These buffalo crossing the Madison River after the sun had gone down produced this stunning silhouette, a study in blue. They crossed slowly in twos and threes until the entire herd got across. The water was calm, nearly glass-like, and so were they. Even the normally rambunctious calves were quiet, and like me they were in no hurry to end the day.
