Sometimes pictures are taken to emphasize a mood as well as to convey content information. That is the case with this image, as the overall feeling is its somber, dramatic majesty. Even though the storm clouds show that a storm is coming, there was no wind and it was quiet and still when I took this picture, heightening the feeling that something fundamental and important was going to happen. Your sense of place is always being adjusted when you are in Yellowstone.
