This is an incredible spectacle to behold. Just before the sun is completely up an unspoken signal travels thru the flock and every bird on the pond lifts together at the same moment. In this instance there was an estimated 25 to 35 thousand snow geese in this flock, and in the space of 20 seconds every one was airborne. The sound of their wings beating was like a strong wind blowing through the forest and their cries as they lifted up were deafening. Whether you are a hardcore birder or just enjoy nature this is something you should experience as soon as you can.
