Disruption at the cornfield - Snow Geese
Although thousands of Snow geese leave for greener pastures each morning a large number stay very near the refuge where corn has been planted as food for them. This group can number many hundreds if not thousands and they pack tightly into the feeding area to get their fair share. Occasionally a coyote or fox or even a human will get too close to them and they all rise as one to fly around in great consternation honking and calling until one of them decides it is safe to land. They will then continue to feed again until the next interruption and the cycle starts all over again.
