Last of the Evening Light - Sunset - Sandhill Cranes
When you see the surrounding countryside of the refuge in the full light of day it is hard to imagine that there can be colors like this in this monochromatic landscape. But as the magic hour of the setting sun arrives everything begins to change. Gone are the flat grays and tans of the foliage and the slate blue, unreflecting surface of the ponds. In their place are the gorgeous hues of yellows, reds, and gold, softening all the harsh contours and creating a paradise of color for both man and bird.
