France 058 - An act of devotion - Notre Dame

In image 055 I talked about how a problem image turned into a keeper and became one of my favorite shots. This image was shot under the same conditions, dark, handheld, etc. but I was determined to get this shot right. I saw a man starting to light a candle and I asked him if I could take a picture of him doing it. He said yes or oui or something like that and I took the picture. Of course it came out lousy so I deleted it and asked if he would mind doing another take. And of course, this shot came out bad too. So after two packs of matches and some barely heard French phrases that I don't think were all that spiritual we had this image. We, my doubly suffering helper and I, were greatly relieved. He said that he would light a candle for me too. I took that as a good thing.
