France 102 - The order - faces of Paris
Faces of Paris
Faces of Paris is a series within a series of the total images from France where I found interesting faces and people and wanted to include them in my presentation.
France 102 - The order
It was hot this day and we were tired of walking and wanted something cool to drink. There is a perfect outdoor cafe on the Luxembourg Palais grounds and they had really cold iced tea. The waiter who took our order appeared to have a slight memory problem as he would forget what you had ordered before he got to the counter to place it. Even though he carried a small piece of paper to write on he never did. He took four tries with us before he finally got us our iced tea. So when he approached this young woman to take her order I thought things were going to get interesting. This shot is when he had returned to ask her for her order after the fourth of fifth time and she was saying something to him in very rapid french. So fast in fact that my linguist wife/interpeter could only catch very small pieces of her meaning. My wife thought it had something to do with her description of his abilities as a waiter and perhaps even comments about his ancestry. It was all very hard to follow. She was sincere in her comments though and took some time in explaining them to him at great length. When she had finished he walked by us on the way to the counter and with a very gaelic shrug looked at me and said "Women!" I thought it was one of the more fortunate times when I did not speak french. We left before I found out if she got her order so I can't relay how successful her suggestions were.
