Where I live in the mountains of Northern Colorado we have mountain lions. We have almost more than our share in fact. Several times I have found mule deer kills that were taken by lions that were within three hundred yards of the house. This area is perfect mule deer and mountain lion country with dense stands of pine and isolated rock outcroppings and drop offs with century old animal trails running through them. There have been times when we have been walking and had that feeling that you were being watched. But look all you want, you can not see who it is.
Shadows Below tells the story of a mountain lion resting on a rock outcropping. At ease until he spots something moving in the shadows below him. Ever watchful for that next opportunity he tenses and considers his next course of action. Then just as suddenly he is gone, off to do what he does best, fulfil his destiny as Nature intended.
